I am a Registered Psychologist in the province of Ontario who has been engaged in full time practice since 1974, when I received my doctorate. From 1974 to 1979, I acted as an Associate Professor on a part time appointment with the Department of Behavioural Science, Faculty of Medicine, at the University of Toronto Medical School focusing upon doctor/patient relationships and the impact of illness and long term hospitalization upon an adult population. Simultaneously, I was a full time Staff Psychologist at Mt. Sinai Hospital up until 1982, fulfilling duties as Acting Director of the Psychology Department from June 1980 until November 1980. My work at Mt. Sinai was largely directed towards intensive psychotherapy work with an outpatient population presenting a broad spectrum of problems. In-hospital consultation to various hospital departments was also undertaken. Ongoing supervisory responsibility for various staff members and participation in a variety of seminars and case presentations was part of my role at this hospital.
While at Mt. Sinai, I began an after-hours private practice which extended into full time private practice in 1983. Private practice encompassed largely psychotherapy work, but also incorporated psychological assessment and psycho-legal assessment. In addition to private practice, I became involved with the Ontario Psychological Association in the early 1980’s, serving on and chairing a number of committees up until my eventual appointment as President of that organization in 1989. I also became one of the six founding members of the Canadian Association of Psychologists in Disability Assessment.
During the course of private practice work, my focus on medical legal assessment extended into the position of Director of the Thornhill Multidisciplinary Assessment Centre. My duties included administrative and clinical assessment responsibilities in an OIC designated Disability Assessment Centre. I held this position from 1996 up through 2006. Notwithstanding my position as Director of the Thornhill Multidisciplinary Assessment Centre, my interest in psychotherapy remained the primary focus of my practice.
At present, I am semi retired, working 2 days a week. My practice is entirely restricted to psychotherapy. I typically see patients on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but my schedule may vary depending on people's needs.
Please also note that I have relocated my practice to Stratford , Ontario from Toronto. All patients wishing to resume working with me can do so via phone and / or video sessions. As of April 2018, my home office will be ready for those people wishing to see me face to face.
